Our Doctors & Nurse Practitioners

Dr. Klebanow founded the practice in 1982 and is pleased to report that of the current 60 employees, 19 of them have been with the practice for 16 or more years.

anthonyDr. James D. Anthony

Dr. James D. Anthony is Board Certified in Pediatrics. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1984. He completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Systems before joining our practice in 1987. Dr. Anthony resides in Baltimore with his wife. He has four adult children in various stages of leaving the nest, and recently welcomed his first granddaughter to the family. Dr. Anthony loves being near, on, or in the coastal waters and owns a tiny boat which he occasionally gets to use. He is active in his church and interested in nature, science, and the wonders and oddities of creation. Viewing a total solar eclipse in 2017 was a high point for him!

brownDr. Marcia A. Augustine

Dr. Marcia Augustine is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and her Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in 2009. She completed her residency at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in 2013, received training as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in 2013, and was appointed as Chief Resident for the 2013-2014 academic year, prior to joining our practice in 2014. Dr. Augustine resides in Ellicott City with her husband and daughter, and enjoys reading, jogging, movies and creative arts. She is our “artist in residence” with the award for most paint nights attended.

Dr. Jacqueline Brown is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University and her Doctor of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in 1988. She completed her residency at the University of Maryland Medical Systems prior to joining our practice in 1991. Dr. Brown resides in Columbia with her husband and has two adult children. She was the Spelling Bee Champion of her fifth grade class. She enjoys cooking and traveling, and is an avid fan of all things Disney.

chatterjeeDr. Chandana Chatterjee

Dr. Chandana Chatterjee is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Jabalpur University and her Doctor of Medicine from A.P.S. University, Rewa, India in 1973. She completed her residency at the University of Maryland Medical Systems in 1980. She was co-chief resident at St Agnes Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland from 1980-1981, and an instructor at Georgetown University Child Development Center from 1982-1990 before joining our practice in 1990. Dr. Chatterjee resides in Columbia with her husband and has two adult children. She volunteers at a homeless shelter every week as well as at the DC Central Kitchen. She enjoys working out, reading, and visiting with her granddog Copper.

fitchDr. Lindsay Fitch-Alexander

Dr. Lindsay Fitch-Alexander is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her BA Biology Degree from Indiana University and her Doctor of Medicine from Ohio State University of Medicine and Public Health in 2000. She completed her residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland in 2004, and had been practicing with Nighttime Pediatrics and Arundel Pediatrics before joining our practice in 2011. She trained to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in 2015. She resides in Catonsville with her husband and two children. She enjoys gardening, cooking, singing, and paddling.

Dr. Kenneth M. Klebanow

Dr. Kenneth M. Klebanow is Board Certified in Pediatrics. He received his BA History Degree from New York University and his Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College in 1978. He completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical systems in 1981, and then started this private practice in 1982. Dr. Klebanow resides in Columbia with his wife and has two adult children.

shahDr. Parul A. Mehta Shah

Dr. Parul A. Mehta Shah is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her BA and MS Degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and her Doctor of Medicine from St George’s University School of Medicine in 2002. She completed her residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2005, and practiced in Annapolis and Laurel before joining our practice in 2007. She trained to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in 2016. Dr. Shah resides in Howard County with her husband and two daughters. Her favorite things include reading, traveling, having outdoor adventures with her family, and beating her husband at Scrabble.

Dr. Heather Neblett-Alexander

Dr. Heather Neblett-Alexander is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Haverford College and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1992. She completed her residency at the Children’s National Medical Center in 1995 and practiced in Baltimore for nine years prior to joining our practice in 2004. Dr. Alexander is a Qualified Mindulness-Based Stress Reduction instructor. She loves Zumba as it allows her to express her inner dancer – often “choreographing” her own steps. She enjoys listening to jazz with her husband, and especially loves live music performances. Dr. Alexander resides in Columbia with her husband and has three adult children.

Dr. Jessica Winkles

Dr. Jessica Winkles is a licensed child psychologist. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and her Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. She completed her internship in child clinical and pediatric psychology at Children’s National Health System in 2013 and her clinical research fellowship at University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2015. The Behavioral Health Consultation Service of Klebanow & Associates was established in 2016 with Dr. Winkles’ guidance. She resides with her husband and daughter in Howard County. She enjoys ballet dancing in her free time.

Dr. Elizabeth L. Thompson is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University of Maryland and her Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University, graduating AOA. She completed her residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. prior to joining our practice in 2015. Dr. Thompson resides in Howard County with her husband. She is a 2004 Wilde Lake High School graduate. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Dana Wollney is Board Certified in Pediatrics. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science and his Doctor of Medicine from Washington University School of Medicine in 1983. Dr. Wollney completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical System prior to joining our practice in 1986. He resides in Columbia with his wife and has two children. Dr. Wollney always elevates our office Halloween festivities with the most creative themes and costumes and is famous for his love of squirrels.

birdMrs. Hope Bird

Mrs. Hope Bird has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) since 1997 and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2005. She received her BSN from the University of Maryland and her MSN from the University of Maryland, Advanced Practice PNP in the Department of Maternal/Child health. She worked for eight years in the Pediatric Emergency Department at the University of Maryland Medical System and Sinai Hospital before joining our practice in 1997. She resides in Eldersburg with her husband and two teenagers. Mrs. Bird is co-owner of ThistleBird Lactation Consulting Services, LLC, and has a special interest in newborns and feeding difficulties. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family in Bethany Beach, Delaware. She and her family also enjoy providing foster care for dogs in transition.

Mrs. Sharon Brodie has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) since 1983 and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She received her BSN from Western Connecticut State College and her MS from the University of Virginia. Her past employment includes being a clinical instructor at Marymount College of Virginia. She has worked at Children’s Hospital Medical Center and at the Pediatric Center at St Agnes Hospital. Mrs. Brodie joined our practice in 2010. She resides in Linthicum with her husband and golden retriever and has three adult children and two grandchildren. Mrs. Brodie enjoys exercising, hiking, traveling, being at the beach, and spending time with her family. She considers completing a four day hike to Machu Pichu one of her biggest personal accomplishments.

Mrs. Elizabeth Lancos has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) since 2000. She received her BSN from Villanova University (Go Wildcats!) and her MS from the University of Maryland in Primary Care of Children. Her past employment includes adult ICU and oncology, maternal care/newborn nursery and pediatric inpatient/ER experience. She joined our practice in 1999. Mrs. Lancos resides in Ellicott City with her husband and has four adult children, three grandchildren, and three granddogs. She enjoys cooking, reading, and outdoor activities in her spare time.

Mrs. Melissa Thistle has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) since 1981 and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2005. She received her BSN from Villanova University (Go Wildcats!) and her MS from the University of Maryland in Primary Care of Children. She joined our practice in 1991. Mrs. Thistle is co-owner of ThistleBird Lactation Consulting Services, LLC, and especially enjoys working with families welcoming their new baby. She resides in Columbia with her husband and has three adult children that have abandoned their parents for opportunities in Texas and California. She is an avid sports fan who proudly wears Ravens purple all through the football season. She also enjoys volunteering at a local nursing home with her adorable dalmatian, Gaby.

shapiroMrs. Elizabeth Shapiro

Mrs. Elizabeth Shapiro has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) since 1977. She received her BSN from Boston University School of Nursing. She is a graduate of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the Johns Hopkins School of Allied Health Services, and has a Masters degree in Community Health Education from Towson University. She joined our practice in 1987 and is particularly interested in patient-provider communication. Mrs. Shapiro resides in Owings Mills with her husband and has three adult children and six grandchildren. She has studied and performed classical choral music since childhood, and continues to perform with a variety of musical groups.
